StudyLapse Privacy Policy

StudyLapse collects nothing. There is no account, no server, and no analytics. Your study sessions and time-lapse videos are stored only on your device and are never transmitted anywhere.

What the app stores

When you record a study session, StudyLapse saves the following in the app's private storage area on your iPhone:

Session duration, subject name, and start date
The time-lapse video generated from that session
A note of any interruptions (for example, the screen locking) so the app can explain gaps in the video

This data never leaves your device unless you choose to share a video yourself using the iOS share sheet. If you do, the video goes wherever you send it, and this policy no longer governs it.

Camera

StudyLapse requests camera access to build a time lapse. While a session is running, the app captures a single still frame every few seconds and appends it directly to a video file on your device. It does not record audio, does not record continuous video, and cannot use the camera while the app is in the background — iOS does not permit this. The green recording indicator in the iOS status bar is shown whenever the camera is active.

You may decline camera access. If you do, StudyLapse still works as a study timer; it simply produces no video.

What the app does not do

No user accounts and no sign-in
No data sent to any server operated by us or anyone else
No analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or advertising SDKs
No tracking across apps or websites, and no data shared with data brokers
No access to your Photos library

Deleting your data

Deleting a session inside the app removes both the record and its video file. Deleting the app removes everything it ever stored. Because nothing is uploaded, there is no copy anywhere else to request the deletion of.

Children

StudyLapse is safe for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes

If a future version of StudyLapse adds features that involve a server — for example, sharing sessions with friends — this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the app will ask for your consent before sending anything.
